Are you an aspiring screenwriter preparing to send your newly developed work out to agents, producers and actors? Ever wonder how you can protect your script?

For a small fee of $10 the Writers Guild East (WGAE) offers online script registration. The great news is that you need not be a member of the Writers Guild to get protection. Non-members can also register scripts for $22. Registering your creative piece gives you 10 years of protection and peace-of-mind. Also, most broadcast stations will ask you if your piece is registered with the Writers Guild before you can submit for a staff writer position.

Registering your work does not acknowledge statutory protection. It only provides legal evidence of the author’s prior claim to ownership.

Don’t waste time. Register your work today with the Writers Guild East.
