heroesclaire.jpgToday’s “Wow, already?” moment comes from NBC, who is announcing a spinoff to the mega popular Heroes. A 6 episode spinoff is currently being planned by the network and series creator Tim Kring.

Kring will develop Heroes: Origins, which will likely air after the second season of Heroes finishes. The spinoff will feature an entirely new cast complete with a new storyline.

Ok, now the cheesy part. Fans will be welcome to vote on the official NBC Heroes website to determine the most popular character. Said character will then go on to join the regular cast for a third season of the cult hit.

I love the show and it has already catapulted its way to my top 10 of all time list. However, I think these guys are getting a little too ahead of themselves. Series that shine so bright in their first season have a hard time retaining that luster in their sophomore effort. I’ll give Kring the benefit of the doubt on this one - I just hope he comes through with something that delivers the goods.
