The year of the sequel continues. Budding film company The Halcyon Co recently acquired the rights to create a new Terminator trilogy. Producers Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna inked the deal, reportedly in the tens of millions, and threw in the script for Terminator 4 by John Brancato and Michael Ferris.
Currently, no distributor or talent roster has been signed, buy Halcyon hopes to get this movie to theaters by the first half of 2009.
Halcyon, hoping to build a name for itself, pursued this deal for several months. They are also in discussions for a mass market merchandise and licensing push.
Though the rights for the Terminator have changed hands several times over, it was not in the hands of a major studio.
