“Spider-Man 3” proved that it was bigger and badder than ever by destroying opening weekend box-office records. The movie took in an astounding $148 million in its first three days, according to studio estimates Sunday. That was enought to beat the previous record debut of $135.6 Million by “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”
It also took in $59.3 million on opening day Friday, breaking “Dead Man’s Chest” single box office day take of $55.8 million in its first day.
Even more amazing is the fact that the movie has already taken in $227 million overseas, bringing the film’s worldwide total to $375 million.
Seems like S3 is definitely on it’s way to 400 Million in domestic box office sales, although it may slow down heavily at the end of May. It faces serious competition for repeat performances from Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean : At World’s End.
