Michael Chiklis and Lucy Liu are teaming up to on camera in a B-movie vampire hunt called Rise: Blood Hunter. The movie is written and directed by Snakes on a Plane writer Sebastian Gutierrez.
The Resident Evil like plot is simply about a war on vampires. It hardly differs from any other vampire horror flick we’ve seen. Liu plays a reporter who wakes up to find herself a member of the undead. She then vows vengence on the vampires that condemned her and hunts them down. Wait a second. Undead hunting down undead? Hmmm, vaguely reminiscent of Blade as well. This movie seems to be nothing more than an amalgamation of plots we’ve seen already.
The clincher, though, is the all-star cast. Lucy Liu fans will enjoy seeing the actress shoot down vampires with her trusty crossbow in hand, yelling “See you in hell!”
Surprisingly, the film has made it into the Tribeca Film Festival, before its June 1 release.
