The April 9 episode of 24 was one of the the best 24 episodes of all time. Proof that one episode can change the outlook of an entire season. Veteran 24 fans have said that this season has become redundant. It’s hard to repeat prior success and live up the King Kong legacy 24 has established for itself. But, this episode will stand out in the minds of viewers for years to come.
Jack Bauer leads an awe inspiring attack on Fayed’s army. This scene was reminiscent of why Jack Bauer is Jack Bauer. First, Jack follows Fayed who has escaped in a truck. Does our hero follow the villain in car? Nope. Too cliche for a CTU agent. Bauer hangs on to the bottom of the truck while Fayed leads him to the terrorist safe house. When Bauer gets there, he takes out a slew of terrorists weilding machine guns. With what? Nothing but a handgun. Jack would make Link proud. The Buzzfocus editorialist was notorious for wielding handguns galor in Socom II for PS 2.
And guess what? Wayne Palmer is not off his rocker. Yes, the president called for a nuclear strike after he called off the Vice President’s strike. Most viewers thought the president was high off of Adrenaline. Only minutes away from starting World War 3, Fayed’s government calls the president and confesses to having additional information in regard to Fayed. But, in typical 24 fashion, the writers proved that there are plot twists even for veteran viewers. The nuclear weapon launched at Fayed’s government was nothing, but an empty drone that couldn’t harm a fly.
After beating Fayed with nothing but a chain, and then hanging him with said chain Jack end’s the terrorist threat. But, that’s not all Wayne Palmer has passed out and may very well be on the bring of death. That would make two Palmer’s and two black presidents dead in 24. Is that all? Nope. Not by a long shot. Nobody really thought Audrey was dead, but what came next was another twist. The Chinese government have returned with one last tactical play. Audrey is alive and in the custody of Cheng, the head of security from the Chinese Consulate. Looks like we were fooled again. All along the crafty Cheng didn’t expect to just give Jack up.
What’s next on 24? We’ll find out tonight.
