Al Gore will be opening this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York. For those questioning Gore’s right to be at the film festival, the former Vice-President recently took home the Academy Award for best documentary for An Inconvenient Truth. The film documents Al Gore’s campaign to make the issue of global warming a recognized problem worldwide.
Gore issued the following statement Thursday, “The SOS Short Films Program harnesses some of the world’s most creative minds to educate, inform and inspire people across the globe to solve the climate crises… Premiering the SOS films at Tribeca will ensure that these pieces will be viewed all over the world for years to come.”
The festival begins April 25, and runs through May 5.
