willsmithpursuit.jpgNewsweek has announced its annual “Power” list and it looks like Will Smith has found his way to the top. The list names Smith as the most powerful actor on the planet, which means his career box office sales numbers are higher than any other actor’s. Will’s movies now have a worldwide box office take of an amazing $4.4 Billion. I didn’t realize it was that much, but it makes sense.

Since “Indepedence Day“, Will has pretty much made every movie he’s been in into a blockbuster. Even more, a lot of them have cross-cultural appeal, which leads to enormous international box office numbers. From “Men In Black“, to “Ali“, to “I, Robot“, to “Shark Tale“, to his most recent hit, “The Pursuit of Happyness“, all of Will’s movies are appealing to a domestic audience as well as an international one. All of these hits are enough to beat out Johnny Depp at #2, Ben Stiller at #3, Brad Pitt at #4, and Tom Cruise at #5

Smith has come a long way since his dopey ways in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and looks to continue his success in the 2007 movie “I Am Legend“, which will be released this December.
