Constantin Film Produktion, a German production company, sued actor John Goodman in a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles Supreme Court. The lawsuit claims Goodman agreed to receive 500,000 to appear in Pope Joan, scheduled to begin filming in May. Goodman’s representatives informed Constantin Film Produktion in March, that the actor would not be appearing in their movie. The lawsuit states that this was done via email. The German production company is seeking 3 million in damages.
The actor’s publicist Stan Rosenfield issued a statement to TMZ, stating, “There were talks about Mr. Goodman participating in the `Pope Joan’ project, although no agreement was ever reached. This is a frivolous lawsuit.”
Goodman will be appearing in Evan Almighty, the sequel to Bruce Almighty which starred Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman. The movie is scheduled for release June 2007.
