MTV has announced the discontinuation of the prank show “Punk’d“. The upcoming season will be the show’s last. As you probably know, the show was created by Ashton Kutcher and he also hosted and executive produced it.
Upon hearing this news, I honestly was surprised that it was actually still on the air. When it debuted in 2003, it was definitely a show to watch. I mean, who can forget almost seeing Justin Timberlake cry because the “tax” folks were going to take his possessions. That first season was great, and they even pranked non-celebs as well.
But seriously, I had forgotten about the show somewhere around late 2004, early 2005. Any of the more recent episodes that I’ve stumbled upon have been a complete snooze. It was a good run, but glad to hear that Kutcher is moving on to new things.
The final season will air starting April 10.
