“TMNT“, the animated reprisal of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise was the winner at the box office this weekend, scoring an estimated 25.5M in box office sales.
That was enough to finally knock off war epic “300” fromt he top spot, which was still impressive with a $20.5M take.
Notably missing from the top 5 was “Reign Over Me” starring Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler. The movie only took in $8M. I personally thought the movie would’ve done better, given the star power of Sandler and Cheadle. But I guess people still aren’t receptive to Sandler in a serious role
Here’s how the top 5 movies did:
1. “TMNT” - $25.45M
2. “300″ - $20.51M
3. “Shooter” - $14.5M
4. “Wild Hogs” - $14.36M
5. “The Last Mimzy” $10.2M
I expected TMNT to flop, they won’t generate anywhere near as many ticket sales by week 2.
