Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about the Smashing Pumpkins reunion album Zeitgeist. The album is scheduled to be released on July 7 on Reprise. The band has no confirmed its first North American appearance. On Sept 9, the Smashing Pumpkins will headline at Toronto’s Virgin Festival, on Toronto Island. Bjork will headline on Sept 8.
Original Smash Pumpkin’s members, Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin have been working with producers Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date on the band’s first album since MACHINA/The Machines of God.
On Zeitgeist, frontman Billy Corgan said, “For many years there were private laments about opportunities missed and hearts so broken, but no more… we have turned the page and moved on, from places and faces, names and games.”

Loves it. This has been one of my favorite bands since I was 12 years old. Though I have failed to keep up with Billy’s musical efforts since Machina (such as Zwan and the solo album), I have always thought him arguably the greatest songwriter of the 1990’s. Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie are works of art.
