How do you pack theaters with moviegoers? Give away free tickets. Well that’s Universal Pictures’ answer anyway. They’ve decided to give away $15 million in free tickets to their film “Peaceful Warrior.” It’s the age old trick of marketing and sales. Give something away, get your market hooked, then charge out the wahzoo. Well prices won’t be going up this time, but Adam Fogelson, president of marketing for Universal, suggested that, “word of mouth and enthusiasm might sustain interest.”

“Peaceful Warrior” is based on Dan Millman’s best-selling novel, “Way of the Peaceful Warrior.” The film was out last year in limited theaters. It’s an inspirational film that “doesn’t lend itself to traditional promotional techniques,” Fogelson said. And why not? In the barrage of commercial movies, films like this tend to get kicked to the wayside.

Tickets will be available starting this Sunday. The promotion is made through a partnership with Bestbuy. Interested moviegoers can get as many as 10 tickets during the opening weekend March 30 to April 1. So check it out, and send me an email to let me know what you thought.

Catch the Trailer now at The Peaceful Warrior Movie.com. Tickets will be available through Bestbuy.
