Will Smith, star of the countless box office successes, will be back in another novel adapted success story. He was nominated for the “Pursuit of Happyness” which grossed nearly $288 million worldwide.” Smith’s new movie Cooked is based on “Cooked: From the Streets to the Stove, From Cocaine to Foie Gras,” a memoir by Jeff Henderson. Its a tale of a drug dealer who makes the metamorphosis into Chef Jeff, a star chef in Las Vegas. Henderson learned the art of gourmet cooking while serving a prison sentence for dealing crack. He worked his way up to be the executive chef at the Cafe Bellagio.
It is not known yet whether Smith will star in Cooked. James Lassiter, Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal will co-producing the film with Smith. Lassiter said Henderson was “truly inspiring… after meeting him, I knew we had to turn his story into a movie.”
