The 1965 hit TV Series “Get Smart” is making its way to theaters in 2008. Peter Segal will be directing the big-screen adaption for Warner Bros. Pictures. It seems like Hollywood, in a drought of creativity, is in a mad rush to modernize any and every old-school series through the miracle of spoof scripting. Academy Award winner Alan Arkin will play the chief of CONTROL. Segal has his work cut out for him. Movies like “Austin Powers” have already succeeded in mocking this genre 60s crime show before, so Segal will have to keep his creative juices sharp to not turn “Get Smart” into a comedically-redundant box-office snooze. Steve Carell will play the brilliantly incompetent Maxwell Smart. This is not the first time the duo has worked together, they also co-starred in “Little Miss Sunshine.”

Since Hollywood is on a never ending search to remake just about anything, I have a few suggestions for TV shows I wouldn’t mind seeing adapted:

  • The Six Million Dollar Man
  • I Love Lucy
  • Buck Rogers
  • Knight Rider
  • Yogi Bear - Hey, I miss Boo Boo
  • Mork and Mindy
  • The Monkeys
  • Alf
  • Street Hawk
  • The A-Team
  • Cheers
  • M.A.S.H.

Well those are the only ones I could think of for now. Oh and by the way screenwriters, should any of these make it, just make sure to send me my 10% royalty check!
