katieholmesbb.jpgCan you imagine turning down a role in the upcoming movie, The Dark Knight, for a comedy co-starring Queen Latifah?

That is, in fact, what Katie Holmes has done. Mrs. Tom Cruise will not reprise her role as Rachel Dawes in the ‘Batman Begins’ sequel.

Holmes’ publicist said that “scheduling conflicts” were the reason why the actress turned down the lucrative project (salary of $1 million to $2 million). What makes this breach of artistic common sense even more egregious is that the Latifah movie is only expected to net her a salary of approximately $250,000. Must be nice to be able to take that kind of pay cut by choice.

I’m not really a fan of changing actors on a series, but she was so boring in the role anyway, that I’m actually applauding this.

rachelmcadams.jpgOn that note, insider web site batman-on-film.com is reporting that The Notebook star Rachel McAdams has become a front runner to replace Holmes in the movie. Negotiations are currently ongoing for her to join the great cast of Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Heath Ledger and Michael Caine. I’m hoping that this role isn’t that important to the movie, but I think she’s a good choice to play opposite Bale.

Stay tuned for the final word on if Rachel will sign.
