Strangely enough, Martin Scorcese’s critically acclaimed movie, “The Departed” will be banned from release in China. Government censors have decided to block the mob drama after objecting to a reference about China’s military.
This is all a few days before the announcement of the Oscar nominees this Tuesday. Scorcese is widely considered to be a frontrunner for the Best Director Oscar, which has eluded him 5 times with such movies as The Aviator and Raging Bull. As Leonardo DiCaprio recently put it, “It’s like a practical joke [that he hasn’t won”. I definitely have to agree with Leo here. I’m rooting for Mr. Scorcese to finally take home the trophy he deserves.
What’s new. any movie or tv show with international terrorists/criminals always comes under fire. It’ll always happen, obviously the actors had no problem playing the role.
