Madden Steps Down as Production Director of PLAY

Corey Madden will be stepping down as Production Director of P.L.A.Y., a program from the Center Theatre Group. After 22 years of service, she is leaving to pursue other creative passions. The former Associate Artistic Director of the Mark Taper Forum is currently consulting with Crafton Hills College. The project, backed by a Title V grant,employs the arts to help recruit and maintain at-risk students in community colleges.

Other future plans include:

  • Working on the development of a new dance theatre piece, Surf Orpheus, with choreographer Jacques Heim.
  • Developing a new production with collaborator Laural Meade, and the theatre company, ChildsPlay, in Tempe, Arizona, that will feature performers who draw pictures on stage.
  • Directing the world premiere of the opera Keepers of the Night, commissioned by the L.A. Children’s Chorus in July 2007.
