sopranosaetv.jpgA&E paid big time for the syndication rights to HBOs “The Sopranos” and had a successfully debut this Wednesday night. 4.3 Million viewers tuned in to see the shows first 2 episodes, “The Sopranos” and “46 Long”. Those numbers are good enough to make it the greatest off-network series premiere in the history of Cable TV. Hopefully, with all the censored content taken out, the show can draw a broad audience for A&E, who paid $2.5M per episode (with 86 total after this spring’s run of 9 episodes to end the series). As a long time Sopranos fan, I think it’ll be hard to show how funny Paulie Walnuts and Uncle June are if you’ve gotta censor them.

If you want to check it out, The Sopranos comes on A&E Wednesdays at 9PM/8 Central. The last 9 episodes of the series air on HBO starting some time in March.
