“The Sopranos” creator David Chase and producers decided that eight episodes wasn’t enough to tie up all the storylines in the HBO series. So they’re writing in an extra episode in order to finish off the series properly. The mob drama is expected to return to the air on April 8th and will wrap up at some point in June.
I don’t know what Chase has in mind for those last few episodes, but I do know that he should do his best to please all the fans that have stayed loyal to the show. And by pleasing them, I don’t mean dream episodes that fail to advance the plot or full season character arcs for peripheral players. I don’t think we all necessarily want mass bloodshed, but some closure on some open cross season storylines would be nice… Carmela putting the pieces together on Adriana’s disappearance, a fed informant that actually doesn’t die conveniently, Junior meeting his end… All things I believe need to happen by May 1st or else I’m never going to defend the show publicly again.
