Last night’s Ugly Betty was a tad on the slow side with little laughs and a lot of drama. Wilhelmina is actually looking more like a human being now, having cooked a Thanksgiving Day dinner for her daughter. She even gave up a Donatella Versace party for the little brat. If the cameo by Martha Stewart wasn’t so cheesy, I may have shed a tear.
Daniel’s dad finds out that Fey is, in fact, alive and has someone handle the dirty work in outing someone that was in on the deception the whole time. I’m starting to feel like they really need to do something with this plot thread, or I’m just going to find myself only looking forward to Justin moments. By the way, it was hilarious when he put the sports cup over his eye and proclaimed that he was The Phantom of the Opera. As always, he steals every scene he’s in.
After realizing that Sofia’s boyfriend, Hunter, can do everything from volunteer in the Peace Corps to being a ball room dancer, Daniel tries his best to steal her away. He goes so far as to confess his true interest in Sofia, who gives him the choice of choosing to settle down or keep being who he is. No luck for Daniel however, he can’t lie to her and say that he’s willing to settle down, get married and have kids.
Back on the home front, Betty finds out that Leah, the lawyer Hilda is planning to hire, has robbed another client’s money and vanished. The pretty sister-responsible sister dynamic was further explored as Betty confronts Hilda, with a heated argument ensuing In the end, the lawyer does end up running off with the money, but the two sisters make up with a heart felt tribute to their late mother.
Next weeks episode looks like the culmination of a lot of drama. Salma Hayek will make her last appearance and tries to steal away Betty from Mode to her magazine. Fey will try to find out who contacted her from the office and the cops close in on Betty’s dad. Can’t wait till next Thursday!
