On November 28th, at the Colony Club in Manhattan, The Glimmerglass Opera of Cooperstown will present “An Uncommon Woman: A Celebration of Wendy Wasserstein.” The Brooklyn born playwright was known for incorporating women’s issues into her plays. In 1989, “The Heidi Chronicles” won best-play Tony as well as the Pulitzer Prize for drama. ”The New York Times” described Wasserstein as a “chronicler of women’s identity crises.”
Stockard Channing and Allison Janney will be on hand to take part in the tribute. Songs from “Pamela’s First Musical,” a musical adapted from wasserstein’s children’s book, will be performed.
Ms. Wasserstein passed away in January of this year from lymphoma. She was 55.

I’m overjoyed to hear Wasserstein is receiving the praise she so richly deserves.
