borat2006movie.jpgSurprisingly, Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” dominated at the box office this weekend, outdoing presumed favorite “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause“, starring Tim Allen. Borat scored $26 Million total at the box office to Clause’s $20 Million, according to studio estimates Sunday. What’s even more shocking is that Borat only opened in 837 theaters. Fox, who distributed the movie plans to open it nationwide in 2,500 theaters next Friday.
$26 Million for Borat… only in America people. Here’s how the rest of the box office turned out this weekend:

1. “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan,” $26.4 million.
2. “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause,” $20 million.
3. “Flushed Away,” $19.1 million.
4. “Saw III,” $15.5 million.
5. “The Departed,” $8 million.
