That’s right, the verdict is in, Microsoft is delaying “Halo” the movie. Angry gamers around the globe can point their fingers at Universal and 20th Century Fox, who both opted out of financing the film. Microsoft issued the following statement, “We deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement.” Under the original deal, announced in August 2005, Universal Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox were to pay Microsoft $5 million plus a percentage of ticket sales to produce and distribute the movie. A sad day indeed, when big corporations snatch the one thing men everywhere wanted more than sex, a chance to show their significant other why a video game called “Halo” comes before their relationship.
“Halo” the movie was slated for release in 2008. Creative direction for the movie was to be lead by Academy Award Winning Dynamic Duo Peter Jackson and Frank Walsh, masterminds behind the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy movie adaptation.
Breath easy fans, there is still a chance for a Halo movie, but we’ll just have to wait a little longer. Their statement went on to say, “We would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen.”
