While touring New York City, the Bag Man made a pit stop at the Nintendo store at Rockefeller Center to play “Big Brain Academy” for the Nintendo DS. In the spirit of predecessor “Brain Age,” “Big Brain Academy” claims to train your brain through a series of short exercises. There are 15 games in 5 categories: compute, identify, think, memorize, and analyze. The games are relatively simple; your hardest obstacle will be competing against the clock. Each game is timed, much like the standardized tests of childhood. Take the test mode and you’ll be judged on the “weight of your brain.” The more questions you answer correctly within the given time the heavier your brain. Low scorers are labeled anything from museum curator to Michelangelo.

Though not heavy on the variety and awe inspiring graphics, you’ll find this game playfully addictive especially when competing against up to 7 other DS carrying opponents. Plus the $19.99 price tag and ease of play make it an excellent choice for the budget-minded-on-the-go consumer.
