Ok, stop the freakin’ presses. The Bag Man’s been silent for too long. Marvel Comics and “Guiding Light” are teaming up? What is this the WWE? Since when do soap opera characters get super powers?
Ok, breath. In case you didn’t know, on November 1st, the fictional city of Springfield, home of “Guiding Light,” will have its first taste of superpowers. In “She’s a Marvel,” Harley Davidson Cooper, played by Beth Ehlers, will be granted superpowers from an electrostatic shock. This cop, mother and wife will then become a master of electricity coupled with the ability to fly. Sound familiar? Well it should. We’ve seen this story arch before in comics and cartoons dating back to the good ol’ Golden Age. But in Soap Operas? Come on. What’s worse is that within the pages of Marvel Comics, readers will be forced to become familiar with “Guiding Light.” That’s right, Marvel’s characters will visit the town of Springfield in a publicity bonanza.

You can find the 8-page story in the following comics:

- CIVIL WAR: CHOOSING SIDES

Didn’t we have enough of characters being wrecked in the G.I. Joe cartoon of the 80s. The Bag Man remembers a potentially great comic being raped into an atrocious-cartoon-product-advertising bonanza when it hit the air. That’s the problem at Marvel. They Release a great Spiderman movie series. They have a great project going like their current Civil War story arch. They get a deal to set up their own movie studio. Then they go and muck things up with cheesy publicity stunts. Keep the pages sacred, and the soap operas out. Oh well, back to DC.
Fans of “Guiding Light” can - catch a preview to Wednesday’s episode now.

can you not insult gi joe?
this is B.S. - nuff said
I firmly disagree. It’s about time Marvel realized that their fan base is NOT EXCLUSIVE TO MEN. This is a step in the right direction, although I’ll have to see Wednesday’s episode to see if David Kreizman, headwriter for GL, can pull it off
Whoa.. her eyes remind me of Bill Bixby as the Hulk.
I can’t wait to see my girl harley zap some criminals.
