Ugly Betty a Two Timer?

betty2.jpgHey folks, it was more ugliness tonight on Ugly Betty - we found out that Betty’s pops is in the country illegally, Betty’s brother is even way more effeminate than previously thought, and that Daniel’s mother has a thing for alcohol and looks a lot like the mom from Who’s the Boss (just kidding - Judith Light makes a great guest appearance).

In an interesting turn of events, it’s actually Betty stirring up some two-timing controversy by going on a date with Henry from accounting, another geek who happens to know the circumference of the Earth. In the middle of a mouthful of sushi, boyfriend Walter walks in and nerds out in all ways possible. This all after he randomly turns up the pressure and asks Betty to move in with him. I think I speak for everyone when I say that she should’ve gone with the Clark Kent style of geek (Henry) rather than the Revenge of the Nerds style (Walter). It looks like they’ll drop this storyline, but I thought it had way more potential to bring conflict to Betty.

Meanwhile, we find out that Daniel gets around so much that he leaves a priceless watch at the home of one of his 7 flavors of the week. Oh yeah, he’s also broken poor Amanda’s heart. Boo hoo.. if you didn’t act so ugly 99 percent of the time, maybe you’d have more self esteem and not throw yourself at your boss. I actually laughed when she was left at the elevator!

Well, we’re five episodes deep into the season now and the conspiracy is unfolding nicely.  Apparently, Daniel’s father is a bit more sinister than originally thought. Daniel’s mother explains that she mistress Fey forced Mr. Meade to choose between them… and well, one of them winds up dead.

Alas, tonight was the Halloween episode and Betty’s fashion faux pas was an atrocious purple and orange butterfly costume.

What will happen next? The show is doing a great job of paralleling Daniel’s problems with Betty’s (this week the various love interests, the realization of a lying Dad)… Look for more drama from both fathers and for Wilhelmina to go back on another power trip via her connection with Fey.

OH and tune in next week, Salma Hayek guest stars as Daniel’s latest love interest!
