After the release of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the rumor mill has been buzzing constantly about what Ms. Rowling has in store for us in the final chapter of the Harry Potter saga. We’ve watched young Potter grow from a Dursley stepping stool - at the tender age of ten - to the wand dueling, snake talking, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named fighting, rule breaker he is today. Though Book 7 remains untitled, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating on the content. Ms. Rowling has no reservations on discussing one topic. The book will no doubt be an unhappy one. Of course she’s alluding to Harry’s imminent death. Which if it does happen will still be a shock to us all. The problem is that we all want to see what happens when Harry comes of age, and becomes a full blown wizard. From the moment he chose his wand, engrained with the Phoenix hair, we knew he was destined for greatness. But what could be greater than destroying the greatest wizard of our time? He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named aka Voldomort. Yea, I dared to speak the name so many fear. Voldomort. Ms. Rowling does not want anyone to gain the rights to the character she made famous, and randomly resurrect Potter. I don’t blame her. So it’s a forgone conclusion, Harry will die.
So is there really anything left to debate? Well I know for me, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opened up a whole can of worms. People always say the conclusion is never as good as the events leading up to and including the climax. So I’ve compiled a short list of topics I’d like to discuss and would love to hear your feedback and additions.
- Is Dumbledore really a memory? Personally I hope he comes back, but that would sacrifice the book’s integrity. I always have to listen to Bags moan and groan over comic characters coming back from the grave. So, I’m sure others will share that perspective.
- If Harry can’t even beat Benedict Snape in a duel, hoe does he expect to trump Voldomort in Book 7?
- There are at least four more Horcruxes to find. Does that mean Book 7 will be an all out hunt for Horcruxes lead by three teens who don’t know where to start? Granted Hermione is brilliant beyond mortal men, but without Dumbledore who will lead the trio (Hermione, Ron and Harry)?
- Who exactly is the mysterious R.A.B.? I hope that it’s not a new character, but someone who’s been around and flown under the radar.
- What is the truth behind Severus Snapes’ actions? Was Dumbledore just an old fool for trusting Snape against everyone’s warning judgement?
- Is Malfoy really all that evil?
- What the heck’s going on with Ron and Hermione anyway? It’s BOOK 7. COME ON YOU’RE NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER.
- Can somebody please take out Wormtail?
- Is Harry the long lost son of Sir Godric Gryffindor? Harry did pull the Gryffindor sword from the hat in the Chamber of Secrets.
- And the last and most important question. Will Percy Weasley and the Dursleys finall get the beating they so richly deserve?
Agreed, HP is definitely gonna die.
