6 DegreesThree shows in and the Bag Man is still excited, and that’s not just because Steven Caseman (Campbell Scott) just “connected” with budding photographer Anya (Shiri Appleby). Ok, bad pun. But, the website for ABC’s newest show, Six Degrees, is u-r-connected.com so somebody was bound to make it. Funny thing is, when you go to this site your asked a series of questions, based on your responses the website spits out which character you are most connected to. And guess what, The Bag Man was most connected to Steven Caseman. Does that mean I’m a recovering alcoholic with a gifted eye for photography and attracts young impressionable women? Well that’s for me to know.

Anyway, I digress. It happens. The Bag Man apologizes, a rare moment indeed. Six Degrees is a show about connections. In particular the theory that everyone in the world is connected by a chain of six people. This theory gained popularity somewhere around the turn of the century when office workers everywhere played the water cooler game “Back to Bacon”, tracing their own personal connection to actor Kevin Bacon.

After an intense marketing blitz, that rekindled the theory of “Six Degrees of Seperation,” the premier episode kicked off with an alluring narrative by actor Jay Hernandez (who plays Carlos on the show). After the first episode, I was impressed. Admittedly I expected there to be a series of forced interactions, but the directors and writers really created a cohesive free flowing environment centered in the Big Apple. After the first twenty minutes of character introduction, viewers will be drawn into the cascade of events that follows. Every moment wondering how one character will connect to another. The shows suspense goes beyond just the connections between the main characters. Each character has their own unique subplot that is individually gripping to watch.

The Bag Man recommends Six Degrees as fun for all, but also wonders how the writers will keep this show fresh should they get contracted for a second season. You can catch Six Degrees every Thursday at 10/9c on ABC. The first three episodes are also available free for all now at ABC. Click [here] to watch and enjoy.
