It’s been announced that Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini, will star in a biopic titled “Hemingway” after production of the 6th and final season of “The Sopranos” ends. The big guy definitely has his work cut out for him. After 8 years on the air and numerous Emmy’s for his role as the New Jersey Don, he will have a difficult time acheiving the same level of success in other roles. Don’t get me wrong, I view him as a brilliant actor that is capable of channeling a wide range of emotions and realism into his roles. However, the public will be lessed inclined to denote movies such as “The Mexican” (in which his acting was top notch) as his mark of success. Nevertheless, it will be great to see him step up to the challenge.

Who would have thought. A substance abuser cast as a substance abuser. Well the real Hemingway’s exuces was a disturbed life filled with relationships gone bad, vehicular accidents, friends and family death all amidst the dark shroud of mental illness. The result: 20 electric shocks at the Mayo Clinic and his subsequent suicide delivered by a double barelled shotgun.
Let’s just hope post-Soprano Gandolfini doesn’t head down a similar path.
